Many of these crystal lamps display a traditional urn-shaped body. But in a Schonbek lamp, the urn is formed of flawless fluted crystal, and it appears to glow from within. We call this unique characteristic “bottled light.” The effect is accentuated by a solid lead crystal base. Baroque castings contrast with the purity of the crystal.

The central column of other classic Schonbek lamps is solid crystal, often with highly stylized faceting.
