Color invades the Schonbek crystal lamp
collection with vibrant new designs
PLATTSBURGH, NY –-Just how colorful, madcap and captivating can a lamp be? Schonbek addressed the question with 28 new crystal lamp designs unveiled at the Dallas lighting market this January.
“Daring is the word to describe our new crystal lamps,” said President & CEO Andrew Schonbek. “These are lamps for people who want a conversation piece, not a mere lamp, to light their reading matter or tea service.
“The lampshades of Dupioni silk come in striking colors and shapes and unconventional patterns. The clear lead crystal bodies of the lamps are slender and sinuous, their elegant flow dashingly interrupted by solid chunks of faceted crystal in contrasting colors.
“The new designs are not precisely a series. We concentrated on the color palette, composition and persona of each individual lamp as if it were the only lamp in the universe.
“The one connection with our earlier designs is the subtle ‘bottled light’ effect unique to Schonbek. Slim as are the crystal bodies of these lamps, they shimmer with an inner luminescence.
“Because each lamp has so much character, it seems destined for a very particular setting. It will be a delightful discovery for the homeowner or designer who never thought to find such a lamp outside his or her imagination.”
The new collection includes table lamps, accent lamps and buffet lamps.
